Saxophonist Cormac Loane started out in the Newcastle Youth Jazz Orchestra alongside Guy Barker and Dick Pearce, and the Newcastle Big Band (which also included Gordon “Sting” Sumner). He ended up in Birmingham where he is Deputy Head of Music Services and a visiting tutor at the Conservatoire, as well as being a top saxophonist in his own right.
